Our dedicated medical volunteer programmes provide medical professionals with an incredible opportunity to bring knowledge and expertise to the areas of Kenya that are most in need. For those who want to volunteer abroad in a healthcare environment we have two programmes that will suit all medical professionals, whether you are a trainee or graduate nurse or doctor, a practicing GP, Registrar, Surgeon or Anesthetist. Both programmes are two weeks in length and based in Kenya, however they are very different in terms of the medical work and the setting in which you will carry out your medical duties.
Healthcare Outreach – village clinics treating the local community, ideal for nurses and GPs. In 2011 we introduced a free healthcare initiative to rural Kenya, providing vital nursing support to communities by bringing a free, basic healthcare service to their doorstep. We set up pop-up clinics in local villages that would never normally have access to healthcare. To date, our healthcare outreach initiative has benefited over 27,000 people.
Hospital Outreach – collaborate with staff at Msambweni Hospital where all levels of hospital staff are needed. Our new programme is aimed at providing much needed support to Msambweni Hospital in Kwale County. The hospital is situated in an area experiencing high levels of poverty, they are under staffed and lack the necessary resources to reduce high mortality rates. This is a demanding programme that will see you spending your two weeks working closely with the staff at Msambweni, offering expertise, support and advice.
