Our new programme is aimed at providing much needed support to Msambweni Hospital in Kwale County, Kenya. The hospital is situated in an area experiencing high levels of poverty, they are under staffed and lack the necessary resources to reduce high mortality rates. This is a demanding programme that will see you spending your two weeks working closely with the staff at Msambweni, offering expertise, support and advice. The Hospital offers a challenging environment, but you really will gain a huge amount from your time here, just be prepared to get stuck in and make a difference. You’ll be staying at Camp Muhaka, located in the foothills of the Shimba Hills National Reserve, there’s mango and coconut trees a plenty in this lush green oasis.
We have of course factored in some much needed down time. Spend a day relaxing on beautiful Diani Beach on the Indian Ocean and of course no trip to Africa would be complete without a safari. We’ll take you out into one of the country’s premier National Parks for an unforgettable wildlife experience. Be a part of the solution, share your knowledge and expertise with the local staff at Msambweni Hospital. In return gain an insight into hospital life in rural Kenya, taking home with you new ways of thinking and strategies for dealing with a challenging work environment.
