ViewOur volunteer projects you will be working on as part of your gap year programme are centred around improving the quality of life for the rural highland communities living in the Andes Mountain range. Malnutrition is a big problem here due to poverty, isolation and challenging climatic conditions. You will help to build greenhouses to enable the villagers to grow crops, as well as help to improve sanitation facilities. In addition to our community projects we also are passionate about our conservation projects in South America. Deforestation of the World’s largest rainforest – the Amazon – is contributing to unsustainable global warming and irreversible animal extinction. You can make a difference by working to reforest the Amazon for future generations.
Of course there’s plenty of time to explore all that South America has to offer. You will venture into Peru and Ecuador’s vibrant cities soaking up the culture, explore the impressive Andes mountain range, enjoy pristine beaches, and keep your eyes peeled for turtles and whales.
