Visiting from outside Australia? Visit

In July of last year, Kasey with Team Hanuman set off to Cambodia on a life-changing expedition! Kasey has written about her experience and given some truly great advice to all future travellers – ‘Give Everything A Go!’

Before leaving for my expedition, I expected to have a lot of fun and make some incredible, lifelong memories. I was looking forward to pushing myself out of my comfort zone and making new friends along the way!
The thing that surprised me most about my expedition was how much I enjoyed the food! I’m generally a picky eater, so I was worried before I left. I ended up loving the local cuisine, just goes to show if you don’t try it, you’ll never know if you like it! My favourite moment of the trip was teaching the young kids English at their school. They are all so eager to learn, and for us, it was incredibly rewarding to be able to teach them new things. They really love education and that made me feel grateful for all the opportunities we have here in Australia.

The two biggest lessons I learned while I was away were. Never take anything for granted, as at home we can easily do just that. And the second important lesson I learnt was to just give everything a go! You miss every opportunity you don’t take, so to save yourself from regretting not doing something in the future, take the leap of faith now!

To raise money towards my expedition I mainly sold my own belongings that I had no use for anymore. Not only did this raise lots of money, but it gave a new life to the toys and clothes I no longer used/needed anymore. I also put money aside from my part-time job which really helped! My favourite thing about fundraising was just knowing that all the money I was raising was going towards making a difference. It is super rewarding to give back to those communities and to see the smiles on their faces.

I wish anyone who is going on an expedition with Camps International the best time, and I hope you love it just as much as myself and the rest of Team Hanuman did. Happy camping!
